Lacbleu Wines Partners with Evertreen

Lacbleu Wines is excited to announce its collaboration with Evertreen to support the environment.

As a company, we have prioritised environmental responsibility when it comes to selecting suppliers and partners for wine storage, packaging and distribution. We are very proud of some of our achievements to date, including:

• All Lacbleu wines being stored in secure, temperature and humidity-controlled cellars that are powered 100% by solar electricity both generated on site and from Opus Energy
• All wine orders are shipped in ground-breaking FSC Certified Flexi-Hex packaging, made entirely from 100% recycled materials and with full supply chain transparency.
• Domestic wine orders are shipped with Parcel Force – part of Royal Mail, who are recognised to be the lowest carbon courier in the UK
• Business travel is conducted via rail and our ZipCar car sharing partnership wherever possible

There are, however, some elements of our manufacturing process – notably the processing, bottling of wines in glass bottles and international distribution – that present more significant challenges as there are some inherent processes of which the emissions cannot be simply eradicated or supply chains changed overnight.

Along with the regional wine governing bodies, we continue to cooperate to reduce CO2 emissions across the board. However, we recognise that the environment can’t wait and there are steps that we can take right now to proactively mitigate the impact that the wines we sell have on the environment.

We are therefore thrilled to have partnered with Evertreen, a trailblazer in technological advancements, that allow companies and individuals to contribute to the wellbeing of our planet. We’re extremely proud to be joining the likes of Fever-Tree and Hewlett Packard Enterprise who are already successfully working with Evertreen to replant trees in 12 countries around the world.

As part of this collaboration, we have quantified the carbon emissions of each element of our business operations and, over the course of each year, are investing to not just offset those emissions, but to have a significantly net-negative carbon footprint.

Support for the environment has always been a part of our company culture and goals, and we have always looked for ways to support the environment effectively. Working with Evertreen is an effective way to do so, as they offer transparency through their satellite monitoring service, which allows us to see the impact of our tree planting efforts.

We can view videos taken by farmers to see our trees growing and thriving. Additionally, a public page allows everyone to see the GPS coordinates of their trees, making it easy for people to see the impact of their contributions. Furthermore, individuals can even add trees to the forest that Lacbleu Wines has started.

This partnership is essential for us because of the significant impact tree-planting can have on the environment. Tree planting can contribute to achieving several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs), including:

• SDG 13: Climate Action – Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to mitigate the impacts of climate change.
• SDG 15: Life on Land – Trees provide habitat for wildlife, prevent soil erosion, and promote biodiversity.
• SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production – Trees can be used sustainably for timber, paper, and other products, reducing the need for deforestation.
• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation – Trees help to filter water and prevent soil erosion, leading to cleaner water.
• SDG 1: No Poverty – Planting trees can provide income and livelihood opportunities for local communities through sustainable forestry practices and eco-tourism.
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities – Trees in urban areas can help to reduce the urban heat island effect, provide shade, and improve air quality.

The need for tree planting has never been more critical than it is today. The world is facing a climate crisis, and tree planting is a highly effective way to combat it. Trees act as a natural carbon sink and can help mitigate the impact of climate change. In addition, trees help prevent soil erosion and support biodiversity by providing habitats for various species of animals and insects.

Evertreen’s tree planting projects do not only focus on environmental benefits but also on granting stable employment for local communities of farmers involved in the projects. By planting trees, we are not only contributing to environmental sustainability but also supporting local economies and communities.
